So the other night I had a dream about Sokka and Katara's life before the series started. It's November, and I always start thinking about hunting and survival (I'll be sitting in the woods with a rifle over the Thanksgiving holiday, yay). I grew up hunting, but Sokka and Katara had to do it to live, and that to me is just awesome. As the only man of the village, any of the big hunts would have probably been done by Sokka, and I don't imagine Katara would have let him go off alone. As much as those two don't get along sometimes, you have to admire their relationship.

So, with the images in my head from my dream, I drew this pic up and colored it. And for the first time ever, I actually tried to digitally PAINT the background. I wanted it to look as much like a scene from the series as possible.

What's also cool, is that I didn't need references to draw the characters. I double checked some shots for color and details, but they were drawn straight out of my head, their poses totally created by me. I usually reference, so this was a big step.
